Rockrant: New Lambretta

I own a Baron 150-BAS which is the same exact thing as the Diamo Velux. It's a lot of fun, handles great even with wind. Granted you get some action from gusts from the roof being up but nothing terrible, and gusts from the side don't trip you up much. The weight of the scooter keeps it stable. Top speed with 2 riders is about 55mph. The windshield alone keeps you from getting bugs, rocks, wind, and rain on you. It's also a head-turner. Everyone wants to know where they can get one.
All this being said, I've had nothing but problems from the start-- defective stator that won't charge the battery, dead battery as a result (so bad it wouldn't hold a charge anymore), hoses coming loose from the fuel system, and bushings in the stand that didn't hold up and caused some severe vibration and noise. To top it all off the shippers who delivered it damaged the windshield and wiper in transit. Dealing with Baron to fix the problems has been an absolute nightmare to say the least. They finally sent me the replacement windshield and wiper, but have done nothing to amend the charging system problems. Kind of takes the fun out of it. I've had the scooter since December and I've been putting in endless hours fixing the stuff that wasn't done right in the first place. I've also had some major issues getting it properly licensed here. In Florida the DOT hasnt processed the vin info for these, so I can't get tags yet. Kinda stupid. So I have to have Minnesota tags. And insurance is a nightmare as well, dealing with interstate DMV morons, lacking computer databases, and people who don't want to take initiative to fix a problem.
